Toronto’s Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning from 2017 to 2023, Gregg’s 40+ year career and passion for planning and development covered the entire geography and spectrum of opportunities and challenges in Canada’s largest city.
Based on a “values” driven leadership agenda, Gregg’s approach was to inspire “action” on policy and practice change to make the City more livable, inclusive and adapted for more people in more places. Priorities while Chief Planner included “Expanding Housing Options in Neighbourhoods” garnering Toronto Life’s selection of Gregg as the 12th Most Influential Torontonian of 2023.
Gregg has led and influenced great multidisciplinary teams achieving housing and employment policy transformation, neighbourhood scale redevelopment, growth frameworks linked to transit, major redevelopment projects, all reimagining how Toronto will continue to thrive. Particularly relevant to conversations with the OHBA is Gregg’s policy and development approval experience involving 100’s buildings of all scales across Toronto and his experience with legislative, regulatory and process change aimed at achieving objectives while making the system more responsive to stakeholders.
Gregg continues to work across all sectors including roles with the Urban Land Institute and the Midrise Advocacy Group and through Gregg Lintern Associates Inc., provides engagement support and strategic advice.
